Project Felci Yacht Design
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy that drove Felci Yachts Design office during this project can be resumed in a very simple concept:
Research of maximum performances, safety and comfort mixed together in order to create a unique sailing yacht.
It was not easy to make these generally contrasting elements to joint together.
Only the great experience of designers, technicians and builders allow to achieve this great alchemy.
We are talking about a luxury “Fast Cruiser Yachts” characterized by a “Mediterranean” typology, created to live in a comfortable and equilibrate way, both outside and inside the yacht.
THE PROJECT
Moving on from the same canoe body, different deck lay out are proposed so that each client may follow his wishes and his own way of sailing.
So it is possible to choose one of the two double cockpit configuration proposed by the shipyard, the first one, more classical, is characterized by a large guests separated cockpit and by a sailing manoeuvre dedicated aft cockpit, and the second one, oriented towards sailing efficiency during the long oceanic navigations, characterized by a very large aft bridge and by a generous manoeuvre cockpit.
Or alternatively it will be possible to choose the new “open transom” version, to live your holydays in direct contact with the sea.
THE STRUCTURE
What all these versions share in a very clear way is the care dedicated by the designers at the sailing efficiency.
The hull shell, the deck and the structures are made of high technology materials.
Hybrid Kevlar/Glass “skins” for the hull shell and for all the bulkheads, unidirectional carbon fibre for the deck “skins” and for structure reinforcements; under vacuum process is extensively used to bond the “core” of all the sandwich panels.
All of this looking for lightness, structural safety and rigidity.
THE HULL
The hull shape is directly connected with all the performances oriented hulls that Felci Yachts has developed and tested in many international racing circuit.
But we must say that we are not talking “only” of one racing hull fitted as a cruiser yacht.
Many aspects had been studied and developed in order to give at this Yachts its incredible “course stability” at any heel angle and of course its great all round performances.
Clearly visible are the high freeboards, that allow a safe and dry navigation and give great inner volumes, the fine entries of the hull in order to obtain the best wave pitching, the flared hull top sides that permit to a generally fine hull to have a remarkable width at deck level, the B.max quite aft and the full aft part of the hull, in line with the best oceanic racers.
All these well selected choices put together a great habitability in the aft part of the yacht, both outside and inside, and the need to create a hull with a remarkable stability and power that will allow a safe and a fast navigations, both by sail and by engine.
A “real” yachts that will permit a high average navigation speed in any sea conditions.
KEEL AND RUDDER
Keel and rudder are in line with the general philosophy of the all project, underlining its modern philosophy and its performance orientation.
This said we have decided to maintain a balanced compromised so to skip any dangerous and extreme configuration not justified on this kind of large yachts.
So a great attention had been put during the dimensioning process looking for a rudder and for a keel blade that are capable to generate a correct lift giving a perfect control of the yachts during any navigation in any conditions.
The keel is characterized by a trapezoidal blade with a lead torpedo bulb designed to achieve the lowest possible Vertical Centre of Gravity.
The choice of the profile and the thickness of the blade had been dimensioned to reduce the hydrodynamic resistance but always with the guarantee of high structural safety coefficient.
THE SAIL PLAN
Simple and efficient is the sail plan, logically in line with the “grand tourism” spirit of this yacht.
The rig is slightly fractional and the genoa has no overlap
This allows a very easy way of manoeuvring, and gives the possibility to move the shrouds fittings on the sheer line, avoiding the need of any kind of structural runners, thank also to the large three sets of sweep back spreaders.
Simple and efficient is the carbon bowsprit designed to fit a gennaker or of a furling code 0, actually one of the most appreciated sails while cruising.
THE INTERIORS
The interior lay out are proposed in some different lay out.
In any one of these interior versions the classic mood is mixed with many modern and elegant details and with the modern technology of the way all the furniture and all the details are built.
The research to optimize and to keep the weight as low as possible have driven the shipyard technician to adopt the extensive use of light and rigid sandwich panels, finished with the most precious veneers or eventually clear lacquered to give more brightness at the interior spaces.
The study of the most personal internal lay out it is one of the most interesting characteristics that Yachts 2000 is capable to offer to his clients.
The shipyard, thanks to his experience and thanks to the contribution of Felci Yachts Design office, constantly involved in the development of all the Yachts under production, is capable to offer the most different internal solutions and to obtain a final product in line with this unique and luxury production.
