The SW 72 is a high performance cruiser–racer representing the ideal response to the market demand for a short-handed, comfortable and seaworthy sailing yacht.
KIBOKO launched in February 2006 is the first SW 72 built by Southern Wind Shipyard.
This project is the result of the synergy between Reichel Pugh Yacht Design for sail plan, waterlines and appendages and Antonio Minniti for deck and interior design and arrangement and Fernando de Almeida for deck geometries. All together being a guarantee for performance, functionality and style.
The SW 72 is a light-displacement, fast, comfortable and seagoing yacht which combines pleasure of sailing with high living standards on board.
Materials and technology of construction are of the highest quality: hull, deck and structures are built in a composite sandwich of carbon fibre, Kevlar and epoxy resin.
The yacht sleek lines unveils her sporty nature and the aggressive racing look is enhanced by twin steering wheels and foldable anchor arm, without compromising on functionality and comfort while cruising.
Some good examples are the recessed mainsail traveler, which turns the central cockpit into a large and sheltered sun-bathing and socializing area, or the hydraulic swim platform on the transom.
Saloon
The interior styling below deck, without compromising with the traditional finishing quality and the attention to detail of Southern Wind Shipyard, features modern concepts such as varnished bulkheads and carbon look components which blend with the teak furniture.
The main companionway, through an original carbon fibre ladder, leads into the saloon featuring to port a large L-shaped sofa with a convertible dining – coffee table and to starboard a two seater sofa, behind which is fitted an LCD television screen.
Nav-station and Galley
The generous accommodation includes owner’s, guests’ and crew area. The two guests’ cabins are next to the dining area and both have an en-suite head with shower. The owner’s cabin located forward has a king size bed on the centerline, excellent storage space and a spacious head with shower.
The crew quarter is located aft and is accessible via the crew companionway. It features a crew cabin with bunk beds, one head with shower, galley and nav-station.
The yacht is built in accordance to the 94/25/CE (RSC) class A rules.
Alternative layout options may be available in order to tailor the yacht on the clients’ wishes and achieve a top quality semi custom product.
